Features & compatibility
What Vyray Now does, how each capability works, and what to check for your setup.
Scope of this reference
This reference describes Vyray Now capabilities and the compatibility checks for a particular setup. Availability depends on the local and remote operating systems, devices, applications and release version. A platform-by-platform compatibility matrix will follow release verification.
Use the table below when checking a specific capability.
Capabilities

| Capability | How it works | Release-specific checks |
|---|---|---|
| Region-based desktop encoding | The classifier selects encoding for each screen region. oblik, the Vyray Now image codec, uses lossless encoding for text and precise detail, and lossy encoding where appropriate. | OS, graphics stack and display configuration. |
| Adaptive streaming | Video and game regions use adaptive streaming alongside oblik in the same session. | Available encoder and decoder paths; workload. |
| Multiple monitors | Use a remote workspace across several displays. | Monitor count, layout, resolution and scaling. |
| Shared clipboard | Copy and paste in both directions. | Supported clipboard formats and operating systems. |
| Files and drag & drop | Transfer files in both directions, with a file manager and drag-and-drop workflow. | Permissions, paths and supported drag-and-drop targets. |
| Webcam redirection | Send the local camera into the remote session through a video codec. This is separate from USB forwarding. | Camera format, application and operating-system support. |
| Sound and microphone | Hear audio from the remote computer and use the local microphone in the session. | Audio devices and application configuration. |
| USB forwarding | Forward supported USB peripherals to the remote computer. | Device class, drivers and release compatibility. |
| Network adaptation | Adapt to changing bandwidth, packet loss and higher latency. | Network conditions; this does not remove the need for connectivity. |
| Content redirection | Send a supported media stream without an extra remote decode-and-re-encode cycle. | Browser integration, media formats and site behavior. |
Compatibility and limits
Supported desktop systems: Windows and Linux on x86_64; macOS on Intel and Apple Silicon. The same application is installed on both computers. This platform scope does not mean that every peripheral or feature works in every combination.
This reference is not certification of a particular game, application, camera or USB peripheral. Use the release-specific installation guide, known issues and changelog when selecting a setup.
